Hello John,

Ahh yes. Have very fond memories of the Boxing day fixture & the celebrations down the Red Lion afterwards.

We haven't played this fixture for a few years now though but will always remember trying to stand up on the frosty pitch after the numerous tots of brandy in the tea !!!

Hi

Do you still play on Boxing day, the first day we played the sun shone it was lovely but we had to bowl all the overs from the Hall end as you could not see the ball or any thing else to be honest from the other.

It was fun and thats what it is all about but it was good to get into the pub at dinner time for a drop of the hard stuff.

They thought we was mad well you had to be. their was snow on the ground also.

Hello John & Terry,

Brilliant to hear from some of LCC's past players!!! Glad you like the site, especially the history section. We approached Rodney to write up the history of LCC as we thought it was such an important part of the club that is easily forgotten as time progresses, especially by the new players. Rodney kindly obliged and his stories & memories make for a fantastic addition to the website.

John, as you mention, LCC is still a club run by players, friends & family with a love for the village & the game who put in a massive amount of time and without these people the club would certainly cease to be.

Again, great to hear from you folks and it would be lovely if you could pop in to see us at a game in the near future.

Regards, Jamie Allen

Hi

It is good to see that the old club is still going l would like know how many hours players and many others put into the new ground by the tank park.

I can remember transporting the pavillion from a site in Northampton on the back of Ken Tingleys lorry and errecting putting loads of work with Mick Fish trying to get rid of those bloody moles.

John,

Your right Terry it brings back memories some good some bad their was one good thing though it was not far to walk to the middle and return with a duck.

Keep up the good work chaps you never know we might come and have a look at you performing.

Just discovered the website which brought back many happy memories played at both Litchborough venues. Luckily we didn't have to play in the snow on the green very often. I remember the occasion very well and often talk to Bryan Tarry & Rodney Hutchings about those early days spent with a bat and ball. However , our favourite pitch in our VERY early days was Kiln Lane where many a century was scored (Mainly by Bryan - you needed a tin opener to get him out!!) and many England v Australia Test Matches were played!! Many thanks for all the information. Will keep up to date with current matters.
